CASE STUDIES:
WINDOW GRAPHICS
Large-scale storytelling,
built with precision, craft,
and architectural sensitivity.
Concept: The invitation system drew from CHLOE’s refined, globally influenced spirit and its warm, minimalist setting at 1331 4th Street SE.
Victor Building (DC)
A soft, natural intervention for an iconic downtown structure. The Victor Building required a design solution that felt organic yet modern, adding visual interest without overwhelming the historic architecture.
I developed a refined concept using layered leaf textures, gradients, and subtle translucency to create motion and depth on glass.
I owned every stage of execution:
- Design & texture creation
- Ink-density planning for partial translucency
- Print file preparation for oversized panes
- Installation supervision to balance visibility and privacy
Balancing light transmission, readability, and aesthetic softness was key.
The final installation introduced a sophisticated, understated visual language that complemented both
the building and the surrounding streetscape.
Bethesda Crescent
Bethesda Crescent required an immediate visual upgrade, one that was energetic, approachable, and versatile enough to accommodate multiple window sizes. I designed a modular graphic system centered around lifestyle cues, warm palettes, and friendly typography to create a sense of community and optimism.
My contributions included:
- Visual direction & system creation
- Multi-panel layout design
- Pre-press production for large-scale output
- On-site installation coordination & quality control
The objective was to transform a dormant retail space into an inviting presence for pedestrians.
The final installation delivered a cohesive, colorful identity that boosted visibility and foot traffic, while giving the property a refreshed and modern personality.
3 Bethesda Metro Center
A unified visual ribbon across an extensive glass façade. At 3 Bethesda Metro Center, the task was to create a sweeping graphic installation across 16 large glass panels. The goal: a clean, modern leasing message that worked both from a distance and up close.
Key responsibilities:
- Precise measurement & architectural mapping
- Creating a multi-panel graphic sequence with exact continuation points
- Preparing high-resolution print files optimized for durability
- Overseeing installation to maintain perfect panel-to-panel alignment
Large-format installations often reveal flaws only at scale. To prevent this, I produced full-size print mockups, checked sightlines, and supervised each step of the vinyl application. The result was a seamless graphic ribbon that elevated the retail frontage and strengthened the property’s visual presence in the plaza.
Silver Spring Metro Plaza
High-impact graphics built for distance, durability, and speed. Silver Spring Metro Plaza called for a bold, highly legible campaign visible from long pedestrian and vehicle distances. I built a strong geometric system with high-contrast typography, ensuring immediate readability and brand clarity.
My responsibilities included:
- Concept and visual system direction
- Large-format production setup
- Ensuring color consistency across multiple vendors
- On-site installation QA and panel calibration
- Given the weather exposure and foot traffic, durability was essential.
I selected materials and finishes optimized for longevity, making sure the graphics maintained their crispness over time. The final result delivered a striking, modern visual identity that activated the entire plaza frontage.
1250 Connecticut Avenue
Minimalism, precision, and modern leasing identity. 1250 Connecticut required a clean, contemporary aesthetic aligned with the building’s architectural lines. The design solution centered on elegant typography and spacious composition, bringing clarity and sophistication to the glass surfaces.
In collaboration with Manuel Salazar, we handled:
- Concept & minimalist design direction
- Multi-panel layout engineering
- Production-ready file creation
- Installation management for challenging glass geometry
One complexity was the irregularity of certain panels. I worked closely with installers to fine-tune positioning, ensuring a uniform visual field across the façade. The end result was a premium graphic installation that reinforced the building’s identity and elevated its street-level experience.
Whether subtle and organic or bold and high-contrast, these large-format graphics are crafted to elevate leasing efforts, activate public space, and give buildings a visual identity that resonates at city scale.
Design at this scale is choreography — a balance between concept, craft, and the architecture itself.
